Introduction To Public Health Prerequisite: LAC student with T1NS course or GER student This course first introduces students to public health and various public health systems and regulating agencies within state, national, and international borders. Secondly, microbes are viewed as potential threat to individual and community safety. Thirdly, aspects of environmental (soil and water) pollution, water and food security and their impact on community health and public safety are explored. This course delves into the epidemiology of emerging infectious diseases, aspects of infectious disease surveillance systems and the role of technology and communication as tools in the delivery of public health services. Finally, smoking and cancer are studied as public health threats.
