Explorations in Data Science
Prerequisites:((MAT 216 or ECO 215) and (CSC 202 or CSC 210)) or MAT 315

This course provides and introduction to the interdisciplinary field of data science. The emergence of massive datasets from diverse areas such as telecommunications, large-scale retailing, astronomy,sports, medicine and social media provide the primary impetus for the field. This course will emphasize practical techniques that inlcude cleaning and transforming data, exploring/ analyzing data, statistical inference, creation of statistical models, and communicating results. R programming language will be used for data manipulation, visualization, and analysis.
