Abstract Algebra Prerequisites: (MAT 320 or MAT 380) and MAT 310 Pre-or Co-requisite: MAT 310 This course covers modern algebraic structures with a focus on group theory and ring theory. Topics include introduction to groups, permutations and the symmetric group, types of groups including cyclic and symmetry groups, subgroups, quotient, homomorphisms and isomorphisms, cosets and Lagrange's Theorem.
