ART 346 - Scientific Illustration
Scientific Illustration
Prerequisites: ART 124 and ART 322

This course focuses on the technical skills and aesthetics necessary for working in the diverse field of scientific illustration. Emphasis is placed on improving skills in researching a subject , discovering details and the power of conveying information in an accurate, useful way. Students will explore the areas of zoological, botanical, medical, historical and technical illustration through a series of lectures and assignments. Developing and practicing drawing and observational skills are central to this course. Students will improve their competency with composition, perspective, proportion, form, color using a variety of mediums including watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and digital tools (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator).
