BIO 344 - General Mycology
General Mycology with Laboratory
Prerequisites: BIO 120, BIO 130, BIO 220 and BIO 230 with a grade of C- or better.

BIO 344 will cover a broad array of topics in mycology including genetics, evolution, biochemistry, and taxonomy. The course will also delve into how fungi affect human helath, their importance to agriculture, as well as their indispensable roles in ecosystems and in the field of biotechnology. Students will complete semester long projects on topics in fungal biology. During the laboratory component, students will develop skills for identifying and working with diverse fungal microbes and will conduct surveys and experiments to shed light on fundamental biological processes and concepts.
