BIO 426 - Biology of Cancer with Lab
Biology of Cancer with Lab
Prerequisite: BIO 120, 140, 230, 240 ( All with a C- or better).
NOTE: There is a $50.00 lab fee for this course.

This course will focus on the cellular and molecular causes of malignancy. Topics covered will include tumor viruses, cell signaling, mutagenesis, gene expression, oncogenes and tumor suppressors, cell cycle, cancer progression and methods of cancer treatment. The laboratory portion of the course will explore many of these topics while providing students with hands on experience in cellular and molecular techniques such as PCR, sequencing, gel electrophoresis, tissue staining and microscopy. Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory per week.
