ECE 326 - Multicultural Children's Lit
Multicultural Children's Literature for the Early Childhood Teacher
Pre-requisites: None

This course is a study of children's literature for the early childhood educator with emphasis on selecting, interpreting, and using quality multicultural literature with children from birth to age eight. Techniques for introducing literature to children, finding ways to deepen and broaden children's understanding of literature and extending children's interest in literature are included. Most of all, the course is intended to help students recognize and value good children's literature for its artistic and literary merits and to develop critical skills for reading, thinking, and writing about children's literature and society. This course will also explore connections between children's literature and social justice/multicultural issues of the twentieth and twenty-first century.
