ECO 100 - Economics of Social Issues
The Economics of Social Issues
Prerequisite: None
Note: Cannot be used in the economics major.

Students will evaluate past choices to deconstruct why they were chosen as well as what alternatives were not chosen, then collaborate with peers to propose solutions to contemporary social issues and evaluate all potential solutions. Students will study economic tools and learn economic concepts to investigate social issues such as pollution, food deserts, crime, healthcare, housing, poverty, labor and the social justice movement, discrimination, and unemployment. Upon completion of the course students will have a greater understanding of economic analysis and the public policy choices faced by governments, voters, and the average citizen.
