Restoration Literature (Formerly named Augustan Literature) Prerequisite: ENG 100 and a 100 or 200-level literature course The literary age in England from 1660 to 1740. The restoration of Charles II to the throne following the execution of his father and the failure of the English Commomwealth had a profound impact on the literature of the day, from the reopening of the theaters, to the elevation of scientific learning, to the development of the novel.
