Women Writers From French-speaking Countries Prerequisite: None The objective of this course is to introduce students to the works of major writers from Francophone areas, namely North and Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and Canada, and the cultures of these regions. A careful reading of the works at home will lead to an in-class discussion and analysis of themes, characters, setting, and style that will shed light on topics and issues particular to these areas including: religions and beliefs, polygamy, women's conditions, feminism, exile, colonialism, traditions, corruption, and violence. 3.000 Credit hours 3.000 Lecture hours Levels: Undergraduate Schedule Types: Lecture World Language and Cultures Department Course Attributes: GER IC2-Cultural Traditions 2, LAC T1LT-Literature & Thought Restrictions: May not be enrolled in one of the following Levels: Non Credit |
