HSC 211 - Paramedic Science I w/Lab
Paramedic Science I with Laboratory
Prerequisites: HSC 225, 308, 318, 319, 408
Corequisite: Current EMT certification

This course prepares and provides the student the awareness to become a paramedic. Areas covered include but not limited to EMS systems, medical, legal, and ethical issues paramedics face everyday. It teaches how to document and communicate as a paramedic; introduces students to pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics; introduction to administration of medications and dosages; re-enforcing student critical thinking skills and patient assessment skills. Finally, this course is designed to provide the paramedic candidate in the clinical phase of the program, the means to reinforce and expand the knowledge obtained in the paramedic didactic phase in anticipation of completing the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Paramedic level certification exam process.
