Abstract Algebra Prerequisites: MAT 310, MAT 320, and MAT 380 This course covers modern algebraic structures with a focus on group theory and ring theory. Topics include introduction to groups, permutations and the symmetric group, types of groups including cyclic and symmetry groups, subgroups, quotient, homomorphisms and isomorphisms, cosets and Lagrange's Theorem.
