MUS 301 - Inter. Music Production & Tech
Intermediate Music Production and Technology.
Prerequisite: MUS 250 or THE 281 or THE 283

In this course students will explore the industry standard techniques involved in the creation of music using production techniques and audio technology. Topics covered audio recording and microphone techniques for live music performance, hardware and software tools used in music production, song arrangement and composition using digital audio workstations, advanced uses of MIDI and software instruments, including in-depth investigation into modular synthesis and building sampling instruments, mixing music productions and applying signal processing to mixes. Students will each produce for a final project a fully mixed music production of their own creation, seeing the piece through form the arrangement stage, recording stage, production stage and to the mixing stage to the final product stage.
