Current Developments in Literacy Education Prerequisites: None Literacy is the foundation of much of education and yet, we have not found the answer to getting all students to read and write at grade level expectations. This course will examine the current developments in literacy education as they relate to the Big Ideas in Beginning Reading as outlined by the National Reading Panel (2000) and the standards set forth by the International Literacy Association, National Council of Teachers of English and the Common Core State Standards for ELA.
