Prerequisite: THE 270

This course examines the development and interrelationship of theatre, dance, film, musical theatre, opera, and intermedial hybrids by engaging the ideas of scholars and artists working in and writing about contemporary performance. Some topics to be covered include the research and analysis of image-based and movement-based forms, intertextuality, and concepts such as immersion, ephemerality, convergence, inter-activity, and performance as applied research.
