Anthropological Research Methods Prerequisites: ANT 301 This course introduces students to commonly used field research techniques in anthropology, such as participant observation, in-depth interviewing, focus gropus, community surveys, mapping and filming. These methods generate information useful for interpreting and understanding a variety of socio-cultural issues. Through a series of ethnographic exercises, reading and analysis of ethnographic texts,students will build a methodological toolkit. Mini research assignments will give students practice at preparing research proposals, conducting field observation and interviews.
