Introduction To Art History: Prehistory To 1400
Prerequisite: None

This course surveys art from prehistory to 1400 from a multicultural perspective. Explorations of the subject matter and visual characteristics of works of art and the social/historical contexts in which the works were produced give students an oppurnity to develop skills in visual analysis and the interpretation of meaning. Emphasis will be placed on the arts of painting, sculpture, and architecture, but other art forms will be examined as well.
