ART 225 - Asian Art and Culture
Asian Art and Culture
Prerequisite: ENG 100, 100P, 200, or HON 200 or ELAC student.

This course provides an overview of the arts of India, China and Japan from pre-history to modern times. Illustrated by slides and other visual materials, lectures, discussions and workshops will focus on the traditional arts of painting, sculpture and architecture as well as the art of Feng Sui, Ikebana, Calligraphy, Bonsai, Raku, martial arts. The student will come to appreciate the aesthetics as well as the philosophical basis of these Eastern Arts.
