Basics of Geographic Information Systems Prereq: Students must have 30 earned credits. Please note there is a $50 lab fee for this course. This course takes a multidisciplinary approach to the concepts, techniques, and current applications of geographic information systems. Students will be exposed to the historical and cultural use of maps and cartography to convey or communicate a message related to geographic information. Students will apply spatial analysis skills to address issues related to environmental management, public policy, health science (public health), and business using state-of-the-art mapping software and visually convey their findings using appropriate cartographic and graphic design techniques.
