Science Writing
Prerequisite: ENG 100 or equivalent.

This course is designed to develope and improve writing skills specifically related to the natural sciences. Emphasis will be placed on writing strategies that help students gather, organize, and communicate scientific information to science peers and the general public alike. Individual and small group projects will provide opportunities for students to draft, revise, and complete designated writing assignments. Assignments will cover a variety of genres and styles, ranging from editorials and essays to primary literature reviews. LSM 250 is designated as a writing-intensive course and successful completion will satisy the University's Writing Program Requirements at the Stage 2 level for students in the Liberal Studies Major, Natural Sciences concentration only.

Senior Seminar in Liberal Studies
Prerequisites: ENG 290, HIS 200, MAT 315 or PSC 201 and LAC student with at least two Tier II courses or ELAC student

The senior seminar is a writing intensive course that meets the university's graduation requirement for the LAC Tier III and is designed to synthesize knowledge and skills acquired in both the LAC and the Major in Liberal Studies. It is interdisciplinary in its content and methods, focusing on important topics in the sciences, social sciences, mathematics, and English. No matter what the theme is, students will pursue individual paths of inquiry an engage in a variety of projects that synthesize the learning goals of liberal studies.
