Choral Masterworks Prerequisite: MUS 120 or permission of instructor This class will introduce students to masterpieces of choral music. While examining the development of specific categories of choral music, including exemplary compositions within the genre, emphasis is placed on function and performance practice, as well as the implications the composition(s) may have had on society, the composer's life, and the demands placed on performers. Listening to and writing about music is a major component of the course; students will experience music through recordings and live performances, respond in writing to the specific experiences, present oral presentations on composers and compositions, and complete on research paper according to the university guidelines specified to meet the Middle Writing requirements. 3.000 Credit hours 3.000 Lecture hours Levels: Undergraduate Schedule Types: Lecture Music Department |
